Service

service
This was a record breaking year for Ol’ Ags’ Service, not only in the money raised for our philanthropies but also in the level of participation in our service projects and fundraisers. With the efforts of our members, the generosity of our sponsors, and the support from the student body and community, we were able to raise over $11,000 for our primary philanthropy, Head Start in Bryan. Our main fundraiser, The 7th annual Powder Puff tournament included more participants than any other tournament in our history, and both the fall and spring Sausage 4 a Cause events on Northgate bolstered our philanthropy donations to unprecedented amounts. We continued our support of Kingdom Ranch, Still Creek Ranch, and Isaiah’s Place with monetary donations and volunteered labor. This year we aim to shatter those records once again as we strive to serve our community and keep “Aggies First.”

Service Projects

Headstart
We have taken on Head Start in Bryan as our main philanthropy. Both our Sausage for a Cause and our Annual PowderPuff tournament donate proceeds towards Head Start. This past year we were able to donate over $10,000 to Headstart to assist them with their projects here in Brazos County. On their website you can find more information about their national program and how they are impacting families here in Bryan/College Station.  Head Start is a national program that promotes early childhood development for economically disadvantaged children through education.  Located locally, the center provides a place to give pre-school aged children the best start possible in life by preparing them socially and educationally.

Isaiah's Place
isaiahsplaceOL’ AGS has been traveling to this camp for the deaf since 2005 and putting in hours in order to provide a safe and comfortable camp site for its visitors. We have been going once a semester and have had a great time while making a change in the lives of others.
Kingdom Ranch
Kingdom Ranch is dedicated to creating a safe and exciting environment catering to children with disabilities.  In 2008 were able to donate $500 dollars and become a Founding Father. Ol’ AGS makes regular trips to Kingdom Ranch. With usually about 60 gentlemen in attendance, we are able to have a tangible impact on the camp. This year we will further our relationship with Kingdom Ranch by volunteering with them in the Fall once again.
Still Creek Ranch
Still Creek Ranch is a not-for-profit organization that has been in operation in the Brazos Valley since 1988. They cater to the community through providing a place to live to some, and also through their outreach programs. The Old Army Gentlemen’s Society is proud to give our time to serve such an exemplary organization.
